Apple Markets “Top 20″ Apps
Filed under: mobile; No CommentsIf you’re looking for some solid iPhone apps to download, you may be interested to know that Apple has just released a list of its all time most popular applications, as determined by number of downloads. They have segmented the list into two sections, one for the “all time top paid applications” and one for the “all time top free applications”.
So which apps top the popularity list? The non paid apps list contains no real surprises, as Facebook is the most frequently downloaded app, with Google Earth, Pandora Radio, Tap Tap Revenge and Shazam following in order.
For the all time top paid apps we see Crash Bandicoot in the first place, followed by Kio Pond (a personally favorite of mine which goes for only 99 cents) Enigmo, Bejeweled 2 and iBeer. They’re all solid apps, so if you are in the market to expand your collection you should find something interesting in the bunch.

Next Gen iPhone Rumors Abound
Filed under: mobile; No CommentsWhile it’s pretty much a given that the next generation iPhone will be released this summer, Apple has not yet come forward and released the specs for us all to gawk over. However, that’s not stopping mad speculation across the blogosphere, and the rumors are really starting to fly.
So what are people saying? Well, pretty much every rumor out there agrees on a few things. Firstly, the next gen iPhone should feature a low powered chip which will provide both WiFi access, and support blue tooth functionality. As well, it looks like the next gen iPhone will finally be getting a camera, of 3.2 mega pixels. The lack of a camera has thought to be the reason for the iPhone’s lackluster sales in some countries, such as Japan, and should go a long way toward remedying those sales figures if indeed included.
Both of these features sound great, but we’ll have to wait for Apple’s word to know for certain what’s being included in the next iPhone release.

LOL I Want One Of These
Really. Just call me James Bond, as this gadget has a definite 007 feel to it. I just love new gadgets, and think it will be neat to see more and more folks using these “watch cell phones” in the future. No doubt they are going to get some odd glances at first though.
The one in the picture at the side of this post is the Nutec Wrist Fone from Neautrano. It hasn’t been released yet, but will contain all of the capabilities of both a regular wrist watch, as well as a cellphone. The Nutec Wrist Fone will includes a touchscreen, a 1.3 mega pixel camera, FM radio, and SD card capabilities. Cool stuff, for sure.

Skype Comes To The iPhone!
Filed under: mobile; No CommentsI have been using Skype to make cheap overseas calls, as well as free Skype to Skype calls for at least a few years now. Frankly, I can’t believe so many people actually pay large long distance fees when a service like Skype is available. I have been able to call my overseas friends for free, once they finally agreed to sign up with Skype! I also love doing video calls, as its a great opportunity to see those who are dear to me, but physically far away.
So, today I was quite excited when I found out that Skype is now available on the iPhone. You can use Skype for the iPhone by going to the Apple App Store and downloading the application. It provides everything you know and love about Skype, and lets you use it from your best friend aka iPhone!

Google Voice To Compete With Skype
Filed under: mobile, technology; No CommentsToday Google launched a new service, which is similar to that offered by the eBay owned Skype, called Google Voice. Some of you may remember that Google purchased a phone company in 2007, by the name of Grand Central Communications. Well, they are now using the technology of said phone company in Google Voice, which will allow users to enjoy cheap calls made through the internet.
Google perhaps even has a leg up on rival services, such as Skype, because they offer users an assigned telephone number in which they can receive calls to anywhere, anytime. Skype does not offer such a number.
Unfortunately, the new service is only available within the US at this time, and only to those customers of the Grand Central Telephone Company. So, for now, I’ll be sticking with Skype, but I have to say that I am eager to try out this new Google offering.

Looking To Unlock a BlackBerry?
Filed under: mobile; No CommentsFor those of you looking for an Instant BlackBerry Unlock Code, or an unlock code for another GMS device, I have found a great website that you will no doubt be interested in. The website, located at unlocktotalk.com, offers instant mobile unlocking codes for a variety of the most popular phones. Their prices are very reasonable, in fact, the Instant BlackBerry Unlock Code is only $24.99.
What’s great about this website is that you can get your code right away, and then start using your mobile (which is the fun part, right). So if you’re looking to unlock a cell phone, I’d recommend checking them out.

More and More Americans Ditch Their Landlines
Filed under: mobile; No CommentsSome new statistics released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that more and more Americans are ditching their landlines in favor of becoming cell phone only phone users. The data released surmises that approximately 14.7 percent of American families use only wireless phones, and do not have land line service.
In some states, such as Oklahoma and Utah, its estimated that over 25 percent of households have gone wireless only. However, other states, such as Delaware are still very land line reliant, having under five percent of the population as cell phone only users.
While Americans have been trending more and more toward becoming cell phone only households for the last few years, I would imagine the growing numbers are also due to the current economic downturn, as many folks make the choice between having both a cell phone and a land line, or opting to switch to only one of those options. Certainly, most people are deciding that the cellphone is the one to keep.

New iPhone Software To Be Swiftly Unveiled
Filed under: mobile; No CommentsThings sure move fast at Apple, don’t they? The company just today announced that they will be holding a conference on Tuesday to show off new software for their next iPhone release, the iPhone 3.0. The event will take place at Apple headquarters in Cupertina CA, and will no doubt be widely covered by every tech blogger who can score a press pass.
The iPhone 3G was only just released in the summer, and has been another runaway success for the creators of the Mac. They have sold almost fourteen million iPhone 3G phones already, and provided over 15000 applications for users of the device to download.
