Ask.com is set to reintroduce a sort of internet blast from the past in their old school butler, named Jeeves. Jeeves was removed from the Ask.com website back in 2006 when the search engine company decided to go in a different direction in an effort to compete with Google. Ask.com has reportedly told the BBC that they are bringing back Jeeves as part of the website because of strong user demand. It kind of sounds unlikely that users were actually demanding to have Jeeves back, especially after all of this time, but I guess it could be true.

Ask.com also states that they have experienced a twenty percent growth in users this year, and that they are in no way struggling. They also mentioned that Jeeves is intended to provide search engine results in a more personal way. However, many believe that the search engine is indeed struggling, as Google has dominated the search engine market for quite some time now and shows no signs of slowing down. Anywho, the story got my attention and I may even run a search or two over at Ask.com today.

Google has made changes to its search process, and will now be putting a local emphasis on search results. When you perform a search, Google will now present you with local results featured on a map. This is not an optional feature, and will be presented to you whether you add a location to your search or not.

Of course, folks are already starting to worry a little bit about what this means for their online privacy. However, Google users can be assured that Google is not actually tracking your computer, however is simply using your IP address in order to guess your approximate location. For some this will lead to very accurate location results, for others, such as me, it will point to a neighboring state, and not a correct location.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology is often referred to as it relates to cars, but there is a company that believes the technology could work equally well in farm machines. New Holland recently launched the NH2, a tractor in except that it is running on a hydrogen fuel cell. This is the first tractor to be offered for commercial production, the NH2 has no clutch or gearbox, similar to an electric car, with the the fuel cell generating 106 horsepower.

New Holland is hoping that the NH2 will be ready for testing within 2 years and a production model ready by the year 2013. At this point, one hydrogen tank only provides 1.5 - 2 hours worth of operating time, so the company is focusing on improving the tractor’s efficiency before it goes to final testing. Although farm machinery is already costly, the NH2 is likely to be even more expensive due to the high cost of fuel cells.
