Today I have been having a great time planning my family’s next vacation. We are going to be taking a whole month off, and plan to rent a beautiful house with a pool that the whole extended family can enjoy. We are considering staying in the La Quinta area, and are looking at some of the La Quinta vacation rentals that match our needs. Personally, I much prefer to rent a vacation house or apartment as opposed to staying at a hotel. Vacation rentals are much more private and certainly provide for a lot more room, which is great when you have a big family like mine!

I have my ten year high school reunion coming up soon, and am considering whether or not I will make the trip back to my hometown to attend. I really would like to meet up with my old high school friends, and hear all about how their lives have unfolded and what they have been up to. I’ve also had some time to reflect on the stories I would share with them about what I’ve been doing since my schooldays.

For instance, I have had a few jobs in a few different fields since school, ultimately choosing to work in the marketing field, before having my two children and becoming a stay at home parent. It will be neat to find out how many kids my old classmates have, and also to hear of what they do for a living. In fact, I plan to bring a few pictures of my darling children to show off! High school reunions present a great opportunity to both catch up with old friends, and reflect on how we have spent our own time.

As some of you may know, I am engaged and planning my wedding for next year at this time. As such, I spend a good amount of time dreaming of my ideal wedding, and scheduling such. Unlike many people, my ideal wedding is quite small, an intimate gathering of friends and family.

We are considering a Vegas wedding, as we have taken many vacations there, and know our friends and family will just have a blast. In fact, we are inspired by a wedding that we attended in Las Vegas, and how much fun everyone had, and all the great stories that came out of it. The one thing that will truly make our wedding perfect is that our family is all together and having fun! I also believe that a Vegas wedding will have the least amount of stress, and heck, we may even include shot glasses in the wedding favors baskets.

By conducting two Google searches from a desktop computer can create about the same amount of carbon dioxide as boiling a kettle, based on new research. A typical search generates about 7 grams of CO2. Boiling a kettle generates about 15 grams. This is the case since Google operates vast data centers around the world that consume significant power. Google is tight-lipped about its energy consumption and carbon footprint. It also does not disclose the locations of its data centers. However, with more than 200 million online searches estimated globally on a daily basis, the electricity consumption and greenhouse-gas emissions caused by computers and the Internet is provoking concern.

A recent review by Gartner stated the global IT industry generated as much greenhouse gas as the world’s airlines — about 2% of global CO2 emissions. User searches are often sent to servers thousands of miles apart, whichever produces the answer fastest. The system minimizes delays but increases. energy consumption. Google maintains servers in the U.S., Europe, Japan and China.

Britain’s Home Office has secretly adopted a new plan to allow police routinely snoop on people’s personal computers without serving a warrant. The policy, which follows a decision by the European Union’s council of ministers in Brussels, has maddened civil liberties groups and opposition members of Parliament. These groups described it as an evil extension of the “big brother ” surveillance state which ignores privacy laws. The hacking is known as “remote searching,” which offers police or intelligence personnel who may be far removed to secretly infiltrate the hard drive of someone’s computer at their home, office or anywhere else.

Material accumulated in this fashion includes the content of all e-mails, Internet browsing, and instant messaging. Under the Brussels decree, police across the European Union have been given the green light to expand the implementation of a seldomly used power involving warrantless intrusive surveillance of private assets. For example, the policy will allow French, German and other EU forces to request British officers to hack into someone’s U.K. computer and submit any material learned.

Users of social-networking sites have been warned to be alert after Facebook was targeted by a virus known as “Koobface.” The Koobface video virus utilizes the social network’s messaging system to infect computer system and then attempts to gather sensitive data such as credit card numbers. It is the latest attack by hackers looking to profit from the success of social-networking websites where e-mails and messages appearing to be coming from friends are more likely to be opened, exposing the user to the virus. Facebook currently has a user base of more than 120 million members. According to the Facebook spokesman, very small percentage of users had been affected by these viruses.

The Koobface virus infects computers by sending notes to friends of someone whose computer has already been infected. The messages, with subject lines such as “You look just awesome in this new movie,” direct recipients to a website where they are requested to download a supposed update of Adobe Systems’ Flash player. Once  they download the software, users end up with an infected system, which then takes users to contaminated sites when they try to use search engines from Google, Yahoo, MSN, according to security experts. Numerous versions of the virus have been around since August.
