    Model Asking Judge to Reveal Blogger Identity

    Filed under: technology;

    A New York attorney for Google is saying that a fashion model is not justified in attempting to reveal the identity of an anonymous blogger who called her offensive names. The blogger’s attorney, Anne Salisbury, agreed that the comments about Liskula Cohen may be revolting. However, she said the blogger’s beliefs are protected by free speech laws. Cohen stated the remarks about her hygiene and sexual habits were defamatory and malicious. Salisbury holds that no “reasonable” person would interpret them as fact. Cohen’s lawyer, Steven Wagner, stated the model, has been hurt professionally. The posts were on Blogger.com, which is owned by Google. Attorney Joshua Plaut said Google will abide by the court decision. Manhattan judge Joan Madden had reserved the decision at this point.
