Worldwide sales of the Nintendo DS hand-held has passed one hundred million in only four years and three months! This is extraordinary as it is  a number the DS has achieved faster than any video game console ever. The DS was originally released in November of 2004 (seems like only yesterday, doesn’t it?)

The figures stated take in to account sales for both the original DS, the amended DS lite, as well as the Nintendo DSi, which is currently only available in Japan, with an overseas release anticipated within the next few months.

The sales figures for the DS, and more so, the phenomenal rate at which it is selling, is even more impressive when you take in to account that it took the GameBoy over eleven years to sell the number of units in which the DS has reached in under five years.
